Ma'asi and Jennifer's Information Report

A Variety Of Fishing Practices

Hello, my topic is about different types of fishing methods. Did you know dredging is one of the top fishing material that’s mostly used all over the world?

Dredging
Are you wondering what type of fishing practice will get you scallops, oysters, clams and shellfish?
Because I know the perfect fishing practice, and it’s called ‘Dredging’. Well dredging is the type of fishing tool you would want to use. For dredging you can use 2 or 1 steel cage nets to collect enough for yourself or your family. If you catch unwanted species like crabs and lobster you can throw out the unwanted sea creatures that you don’t want. If you don’t want lobsters and crabs then release them back into the ocean. The natural cause is that it can ruin the seafloor.

Trawling
Trawl fishing is a classic way of fishing, because there is different types of techniques that are mostly used. Trawl fishing is when a big net is tied behind 1 or 2 boats that are driven to collect fish. The only danger is with trawling is that you won’t know what you're collecting under the ocean, and also you can entangle and kill the sea creatures or mammals that have been trapped. Fourth Paragraph

Gillnetting
Gillnetting is a common type of fishing skills. This type of fishing skill is mostly used if you are going to catch sardines, salmon, fish and cods. It is a very great way of fishing. when the fish try to go through and they get trapped in the net they end up being entangled, and captured. Also, it might catch sea mammals that accidentally get caught in the net.

Traps and Pots
Traps and pots is a passive way to catch fish, shellfish, crabs, prawns, octopus and squid, but the danger that is within trawl fishing is that it may catch anything like endangered sea mammals and other sea creatures.

Conclusion
There are a lot of different fishing practises, but they all have something in common. That they catch fish, and different sea creatures in the sea. Some fishing practices can entangle and injure other sea creatures living in the sea. Not only that there’s always a danger that is within the fishing practices.

Reflection About Duffy Assembly

Today, at Duffy assembly there were to guys who were from AUT (Auckland University Technology) university. There names were Kori and Joshua. Joshua presented a poem about his culture. It was really powerful, and it gave me a feeling. It made me feel happy and strong after I heard that beautiful poem about himself, his family and his culture. It's like if anyone teases his culture he will be proud of himself for working hard, and for who he is.

Moana and The Sea Turtle

Moana Met The Turtle Many years ago in the place of Rotorua, There was a girl who loved swimming in the ocean blue sea. Her name was moana, and when the sun set she would go, and swim under the glimmering moonlight. She was kind, beautiful and also helpful. She loved to swim at the beach near the big rocks. One day, Moana swam to the rocks, then she saw a poor injured turtle. The bits of its beautiful shell was peeling off like chipped nail polish. Moana knew that turtles had smooth shells, but this shell looked like it was falling apart. Her heart felt heavy with sadness. Later on in the day, the turtle was so happy that Moana came over to him. She thought the turtle would be OK the next day, so when the moon started to rise, she went home to her whanau. When the sun peeked out of the Horizon, Moana swam as fast as she could to check on the poor hopeless turtle, and she saw that the peeling had got worse. The eyes of the turtle was starting to close like it was dying slowly. In her head, it was like the turtle was calling “Help me, Please help me,” she had more and more pain in her heart. she decided to be wonderful, and kind enough for the turtle. In this village there were no surgeons or nurses, but the only people Moana knew who could save this hopeless hurt turtle was moana’s wonderful uncle and cousin. moanas uncle has special powers to heal sea animals. It’s like He had a gift from god to heal sea animals who were hurt. As she took the turtle inside the cousin gently took the turtle away from her hands and said “Moana you need to wait outside until we have Finished.” Moana waited and waited. she kept on worrying about the poor little turtle. at midnight, The cousin called her in “You may come inside, but you need to be really quite while uncle is focusing.” As the turtle was being healed Moana was amazed. the uncle had great powers and the turtle was healed. However, although the pieces fit back together and there was no more peeling, the lines of the cracks still showed. Moana knew it would never be as smooth as before. Moana was very glad the turtle was healed like god had the powers. she decided to take great care of the turtle, and kept the turtle as good luck. The turtle got to know moana, and moana was able to know the turtle. she decided to name him after her great grandfather, Koro. So Koro and moana got to do everything together and also swim and chat like they were best friends forever. That is why the Turtle has a cracked shell.
